Having shared the lead with three others Thursday, the Swede is now two shots clear of his nearest challenger, England's Ross Fisher.
Here's a look at the leaderboard with all the golfers back in the clubhouse.
Fisher shot the round of the day—and of the tournament thus far—with an impressive 67, surging past Hedblom before the Swede even started his round.
However, the Swede reclaimed the lead with early birdies at the first and fourth. He will be disappointed not to have a more substantial advantage, with dropped shots at six, 14 and 17 erasing impressive birdies at seven, nine, 13 and 15.
Hedblom reflected on his day to EuropeanTour.com, stating:
It's been two great days, but my golf is strange right now, because I hit really good shots, and some really poor shots, but my putting has been good. So it's great right now to be leading.
It's been a while, 2009 was my last win, but I know I have the game to do it. Right now would be good. We'll see, I think the closer you get to Sunday it's going to be harder.
I don't really have anything to lose. If I want to play another full year on Tour, I need to win. You just have to go for it and have fun.
He is, of course, chasing the crucial win he needs to retain his European Tour card. Currently sitting in 179th on the Race to Dubai, he knows that just the top 110 keep their playing rights for next season.
