Pebble Beach National Pro-AM 2013: Big Storylines to Watch for

There are plenty of big storylines heading into Pebble Beach Golf Links, as a $6.5 million purse is up for grabs and golf's best talents look to win at one of the historic golf courses in the world.
We won't be seeing Tiger Woods this weekend, but virtually all of the other elite golfers will be in attendance to try and claim the $1.2 million prize for the winner.
On top of that, some big names from other sports and in pop culture will be playing alongside the professionals.
Let's dive in and check out the biggest storylines to watch for in the upcoming Pebble Beach National Pro-AM.
Can Mickelson Defend His Championship?
Usually after winning big in an exciting weekend, golfers will take some time off. That's not the case for Mickelson.
"Lefty" has a championship to defend as the winner of last year's event, and he'd be hard pressed to skip with that much on the line.
A big part of Mickelson's chances come from his partner, Skip McGee, who is a famous banker. But if Lefty can continue to hit fairways like he did last week and keep his putting form up, it'll be a surprise to see anyone other than Mickelson raising the trophy.
Tony Romo and Jordan Spieth Could Be Deadly
Pro-Am's usually are able to bring in famous folks who are better than average at golf, but there's a glaring omission to that idea with Tony Romo in the field.
The Dallas Cowboys quarterback has tried out for major tournaments more than once and his play has always made storylines. He's also become a staple in the Pro-Am, playing alongside Tiger Woods and John Daly in recent years.
