Masters Leaderboard: Does Angel Cabrera’s Experience Make Him the Favorite?

Which is more important: coming into the Masters playing great golf, or having a proven track record in major championships?
Who knows, but we'll get something of an answer later today.
Aside from a non-PGA event, the Puerto Rico Open, Angel Cabrera has not played will this year, and really didn't perform that well in 2010.
But once again he is in contention at a major. Consider this: should he win today at the Masters, it will give him a third major since 2007, tying him with Padraig Harrington for the most during that stretch.
His game is just so perfectly tailored to Augusta that of all the men who can make a charge today and hope to make up the four or more strokes needed to catch Rory McIlroy, Cabrera seems the most likely.
He is just as long as McIlroy or anyone else in the field, he excels on fast, nuanced greens (see his 2007 US Open win Oakmont and the 2009 win at Augusta), and he has been here before.
Do remember one thing, however. As great as those two major championship wins were, their was a feeling that he was simply "the last man standing." The 2007 win at Oakmont saw several players who made Sunday mistakes (Jim Furyk, Aaron Baddeley, even Tiger Woods) that helped Cabrera overcome his own slipups and errors in judgement.
The same was true at Augusta: Kenny Perry really gave away that tourney.
If another "war of attrition" hits Augusta National today, Cabrera has a real advantage. But if red numbers fill the scoreboard, Cabrera will have a hard time catching McIlroy.
