Masters Leaderboard Day 2: Ian Poulter Makes a Charge to Start Friday’s Action

After yesterday's first round, things weren't looking good for Ian Poulter.
On a day in which scoring was easy, Poulter struggled at Augusta National, limping into the clubhouse at two-over-par, nine strokes back of the leaders.
It was going to take a lot of work to get back into the tournament and Poulter didn't waste any time.
He stormed out of the gate with three straight birdies and added a fourth on the fifth hole to get himself to one-under, where he currently sits. Poulter had to come out and set the tone from the first hole and he did that.
If he started to struggle again, it would have made his massive uphill climb even steeper.
Now the Englishman, who is looking for his first major championship, is certainly in contention. The conditions are still great for scoring and he is taking full advantage. The man is already four-under for the day; that's something that's hard to believe.
That is a blistering pace for any golfer and if he keeps this up, we're looking at one of the best rounds we've seen at Augusta National in a long, long time.
Poulter made headlines after his comments about Tiger Woods and his chances of winning the tournament and after the first round, it was bit of a tongue-in-cheek joke seeing as Woods was ahead of him on the leaderboard, but now the English golfer is playing like a man possessed.
The rest of the field had better look out, because Poulter is making a huge push for the green jacket.
However, one question we have to ask is: If this is what Poulter is doing, does this mean we're in for a huge scoring day at Augusta National?
I sure hope so.
