Masters Leaderboard 2012: Why Fred Couples Will Be Leading After Day 3

Fred Couples is no ordinary 52-year-old, and his game is primed to show the world just that when he will take at least a share of the lead into the final round at Augusta National.
It is not hard to see why Couples has had so much success at The Masters. His win there in 1992, as well as a slew of top finishes have proven that he simply has a knack for the Augusta National and that this course fits his eye.
Even at 52-years old, a deep knowledge of one course does not deteriorate and Couples is here to prove that on Saturday.
Saturday, of all days, will be the day that Couples must take advantage of. The way the course has been set up only furthers the opportunity of him reaching the top the leaderboard entering Sunday.
Couples, who plays a fade and has throughout a good portion of his playing career, has the game to makes moves at Augusta National because of the soft bounce of the fade and the easiness of which he swings.
Saturday's pin locations are the main reason for why Couples–and any other players who fade the ball–will be poised to make a run.
The first four holes start with the flag stick placed at the back right, front right, back right and back right portions of the green, respectively. Holes 8, 9, 10 and 11 also have the pin placed on the right side of the green.
It enables players like Couples to easily fade the ball right into the green with ease, using the left side of the green as a lay-up position, or even a spot to position himself for a clear shot at the hole.
This goes the same for most players with an ability to fade the ball. It is arguably the greatest factor in determining who will be contending on Sunday at Augusta National and who will not. Couples has that factor and it is paired with a knowledge of The Masters tournament like no other. Those crucial assets will ultimately decide Couples' fate over the next two rounds, but ...
