Luke Donald and Zach Johnson Get Big Wins This Weekend

It is Donald’s second win of the year. He also won the Transitions Championship at Innisbrook in March on the PGA Tour.
Can a major championship be in Luke’s immediate future?
If he can control his driver on the tight, tree-lined fairways at Olympic, his iron play and magnificent short and putting stroke could get him a U.S. Open title.
On the PGA Tour, Zach Johnson fired a superb final round on Sunday to capture the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial. He trailed Jason Dufner by one shot heading into the last round, but Dufner imploded on the back nine and Johnson got his eighth career victory.
Johnson has very quietly put together a strong year. He has made the cut in all of 13 events that
he has played in 2012.
In his last four tournaments, he has two runner-up finishes to go with this win.
This should make him, if not inside the top eight for the Ryder Cup team, a solid Captain’s pick for Davis Love.
The American team needs veteran control players like Zach Johnson, Steve Stricker and Jim Furyk to pair up in the team matches with some of the younger, less experienced players who will be on the Ryder Cup team.
Although he did not get the win this week, Jason Dufner has been the hottest golfer on the PGA Tour over the past five weeks.
Dufner got his first career win at the Zurich Classic in New Orleans four weeks ago. He then took the next week off to attend his own wedding and came back the following week to make the cut but finish way down the field at the Players.
Somewhat tired from his brief honeymoon, I suspect.
