Jordan Spieth Misses Cut at 2016 Players Championship: Latest Comments, Reaction

After blowing a final-round lead at the Masters in his last start, Spieth won't even be around for the weekend of the "fifth major." He followed an opening-round 72 with a one-under 71 during a second round that spanned Friday and Saturday to miss the cut by one stroke.
Interestingly, Jeremy Schilling of PGA Magazine noted Spieth also missed the Players cut last year before a terrific finish to the campaign, including wins in the U.S. Open and the Tour Championship:
Since laying waste to the field with a 30 under par at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions in January, Spieth has been inconsistent and lost his world No. 1 ranking to Jason Day.
He admitted after Thursday's first round that getting back on track comes down to trusting his swing again, per Matt Hayes of the New York Times.
"It got off whenever, and I haven't really been able to trust it at that level since then," Spieth said. "On the driving range, it's there now. It's just a matter of being able to trust it on the golf course with trouble around."
Spieth, 22, is coming off a season in which he won two majors, finished second and tied for fourth in the other two and claimed the FedEx Cup crown.
