Let's take a look at how some individual performances from the biggest names:
Rickie Fowler (-2)
The young 24-year-old Rickie Fowler started out strong, despite an up-and-down performance. With five birdies and two bogeys, Fowler had flashes of brilliance along with some inconsistencies. Fowler is capable of getting hot very quickly, as he had three birdies over five holes. With another run like that, Fowler could gain the lead very quickly.
His second round, though, was forgettable. Fowler shot a one-over 74 in his second round, with a double-bogey on the third hole. Fowley never made up for those strokes.
Bubba Watson (-7)
The 2012 Masters winner Bubba Watson is right there in contention with a three-under 70 in the opening round. With three birdies and no bogeys, Watson has to be pleased with his steady performance. His big drives were key today, with three par fours over 500 yards. Watson has the skill set to excel at this course.
And excel he did. Watson did even better in the second round, shooting a four-under 69. Watson had a whopping six birdies in his second round, and he is still within striking distance from the leader.
