Certain golfers just always know how to come through when it matters most, and those guys tend to make their way into Day 4, as they become the talk of the cooler.
Anybody can have a great round, or even a bad round at that, so there is no guarantee that Gillis' current lead will even stand after Day 3 or 4.
The following guys are sitting outside of the Top-10 going into Day 3, but they can never be dismissed going into the most important days of the tournament.
Jim Furyk, -2 Through Seven on Day 2
While Furyk is still hitting the links, he is currently sitting tied for 25th at two under for the tournament. With the whole back nine ahead, Furyk can make a serious run at reaching the near top of the board.
At 41 years old, he continues to be a perennial threat year in and year out, and it is no different here at the Classic. His Day 1 score of 68 was quite impressive given the field, but today he is just shooting par.
It will remain to be seen how he will fare on the back nine, but for now Furyk looks as if he can stay in the thick of things.
Ernie Els, -2 Through Day 2
Els is another veteran who consistently shows strong results on the PGA Tour. His day one score of 70 wasn't anything that jumps off the page, but his Day 2 outing of a 68 is definitely a move in the right direction.
Els is sitting back here with a ton of veterans, many of which won't scale back in their efforts to climbing the board.
The first two rounds could have actually gone well for Els, but his four bogeys definitely don't help the fact that he has had five birdies.
