Final Series Golf 2013: Prize Money Purse and Projected Final Standings

With no fewer than nine players in the mix to finish the season atop the European rankings, there is plenty to play for in Dubai.
The event at Jumeirah Golf Estates marks the culmination of both the Race to Dubai and The Final Series, which boasts a massive prize purse this year.
The cash pot in Dubai has increased by $500,000, bringing the overall tally to $8 million with bonuses also up for grabs. The other three events that make up the Final Series are the $7 million BMW Masters, the $8.5 million WGC-HSBC Champions, and the U.S.$7 million Turkish Open, which was won last weekend by 23-year-old Victor Dubuisson.
The four Final Series events combined dish out a whopping total of $30.5 million, making it a lucrative four weeks on tour.
Henrik Stenson looks the most likely to walk away with the European No. 1 spot and the $1.33 million winner’s cheque this weekend, but he will face a stern test from those snapping at his heels.
Justin Rose and Graeme McDowell will unseat him atop the rankings if they can win in Dubai, while an Ian Poulter triumph will see him finish top as long as Stenson doesn’t finish second.
Stenson’s biggest challenger could be his own wrist. It has troubled him of late, and he will be hoping that it holds up over the four days of competition.
He currently sits on 2,379,195 points, just over 200,000 points clear of Rose in second place.
