Final 30 Will Divide $33 Million in the PGA Tour Championship

There is also $25 million of FedEx bonus money on the line this week. Although $10 million goes to the winner of the FedEx Cup, $15 million will be divided among each player in the field based on their final FedEx Cup ranking.
The last spot at the Tour Championship on Sunday evening will earn $128,000 from the $8 million purse plus $175,000 from the FedEx Cup bonus pool. That is a total of $303,000 just for making the final 30 and showing up this week.
That will help out the old Christmas fund.
To put that in perspective, Joost Luiten earned €300,000 ($405,000) for winning the KLM Open on the European Tour last week. First-place check for the Web.com Tour Finals at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship was $180,000.
The 95 players that did not make it to the Tour Championship have already split up $24 million in prize money from The Barclays, Deutsche Bank Championship and the BMW Championship plus $10 million in FedEx Cup bonus pool money.
That’s right, a total of $34 million has already been split up with another $33 million to be divided this week.
Tiger Woods won the first FedEx Cup in 2007 and won it again in 2009. He is the only player to win the FedEx Cup more than once. It is not surprising that with over $22 million in total earnings, Woods has won the most in FedEx Cup history.
Brandt Snedeker is the defending champion this week and enters the final event of the 2013 PGA Tour season ranked No. 10 in the standings.
The FedEx Cup standings give a slight edge to the players ranked in the top five spots.
