The FedEx Cup offered $35 million in bonus money, and McIlroy took home the $10 million top prize, per the PGA Tour's official website.
ESPN Stats & Info noted Sunday marked his first Tour Championship win and the first FedEx Cup title in his career.

McIlroy's title was a testament to his consistency throughout the FedEx Cup playoffs after an inconsistent PGA Tour season.
The top 125 players qualified for The Barclays, which was the first of four playoff tournaments. The top 100 then made the Deutsche Bank Championship, and the top 70 advanced to the BMW Championship. From there, the top 30 remaining players advanced to the Tour Championship, with their points being reset.

Patrick Reed won The Barclays, but McIlroy made significant strides toward securing the title when he won the Deutsche Bank Championship. Johnson then won the BMW Championship to put himself in ideal position, but McIlroy captured the Tour Championship and earned enough points to win the FedEx Cup as a result.
