Spieth took the easiest possible route on Sunday to win the FedEx Cup by taking home the trophy at the TOUR Championship. He could have finished as low as a two-way tie for sixth place, but a whole lot of leaderboard watching would have been involved.
Winning the TOUR Championship lately has resulted in the FedEx Cup, and Spieth is the latest golfer to benefit from it, according to ESPN's Jason Sobel:
Day, who also needed a win to take home the FedEx Cup, wound up finishing 10th with a two-under overall.
It was a big payday for Spieth on Sunday, and the 22-year-old has become a very wealthy man in 2015, according to ESPN's Bob Harig:
It was quite a year for Spieth, who recorded five wins on the PGA Tour in 2015, including victories at the Masters Tournament, U.S. Open and John Deere Classic.
Winning two majors before his 22nd birthday, Spieth became the youngest golfer in 93 years to pull off such a feat. According to ESPN Stats & Info, Spieth is also the youngest player to win five events in a season since Horton Smith did so in 1929.
