The 19-year-old player trailed veteran Karrie Webb by one stroke heading into the final hole, but the teenager birdied while Webb bogeyed in a final change of fortune. Kim ended the event 11 strokes under par thanks to her final round of 68.
Webb finished one stroke back at 10-under with an identical fourth-round score.

Kim was the story of the week after starting the event with an incredible 61 in Round 1, the lowest score ever in a major for any man or woman. At the time, she kept low expectations, telling reporters, "My goal is to have a good experience here. That's all."
The dreams of a title became more possible after holding the lead through three rounds, even after shooting 72 on consecutive days.
However, she was able to keep her lead after a solid start:
Consecutive birdies on the 11th and 12th holes got her as high as 12-under for the tournament, although a bogey put her back to 11-under. This was enough to leave the door open for Webb to get back into contention.
With a run of five birdies in seven holes, the veteran was able to get back into a share for the lead, as Nicole Jeffery of The Australian described:
Another bogey by Kim on No. 16 gave Webb the solo lead for the first time all day. Australian tennis player Rennae Stubbs was rooting for her compatriot after a solid putt on No. 17:
