Dustin Johnson Targets February Return to PGA Tour After Taking Leave of Absence

According to Tim Rosaforte of Golf Digest, the 30-year-old is targeting the Farmers Insurance Open in February at Torrey Pines.
"He has some thoughts but nothing definitive," said Johnson's manager, David Winkle. "It's all baby dependent. He's no different than anybody else with a child on the way."
Johnson's fiancee, Paulina Gretzky, is pregnant, with the baby expected around the time of the tournament, which runs from Feb. 5 through Feb. 8.
This is a bit of a change from days earlier, when TaylorMade CEO Ben Sharpe admitted that he hadn't heard from the star at all regarding a possible return—TaylorMade is one of Johnson's biggest sponsors.
"We’re looking forward to having a conversation with him and his team when the time is right," Sharpe said, per Bloomberg's Erik Matuszewski. "Dustin is a great player and I think it’s important to hear from him about the process he’s going through, to hear about his plans and to have a conversation when that time is right."
Johnson hasn't appeared in a PGA Tour event since the RBC Canadian Open back in July. Golf.com's Michael Bamberger and Mike Walker reported Aug. 1 that Johnson was suspended from the PGA Tour for six months for failing a drug test.
The PGA Tour issued a statement shortly thereafter to announce that Johnson wasn't in fact suspended but took a "voluntary leave of absence."
