Dustin Johnson Reportedly Pulls out of Sony Open with Flu

—ESPNGolf (@ESPN_Golf) January 12, 2013 Johnson was coming into the Waialae Country Club with some major momentum after winning the first tournament of the PGA Tour season. He shot 16-under par to win the Hyundai Tournament of Champions by four shots at Kapalua last week.
The Sony Open was proving to be a much more difficult beast than the season opener, more than likely caused by Johnson's medical status.
He shot a 70 in the first round and was three-over par on the front nine before he bowed out. Should Johnson have stayed in the tournament, he could have faced missing the cut anyway, as he was four shots off by the time he withdrew.
Prior to today, Johnson had a fantastic start to 2013, especially when you consider that he won only one tournament, the FedEx St. Jude Classic, in 2012.
Last year in general was a year to forget for Johnson as he missed The Masters with injury and missed the cut at the U.S. Open.
As a result of his win at Kapalua last week, Johnson jumped to 12th in the world rankings. He'll almost certainly see a slight drop after the weekend is over.
Should he have been able to pick up a win at the Sony Open, Johnson would have become only the second golfer to win both Hawaii tournaments to start the season. Ernie Els was the other (via ESPN).
