Davis Love III Finishes Top 10 at the Greenbrier Classic

He has been a professional golfer since 1985 and has won over $42 million in his career. He turns 50 next April and will join his buddies on the Champions Tour.
Love has 20 PGA Tour wins, 30 runner-up finishes and 176 Top-10 finishes in his 673 events played. He found a major championship win at in the 1997 PGA Championship held at Winged Foot.
In addition to his Wanamaker Cup, he has had 21 top-10 finishes in 94 major championship starts. Love was runner-up in the 1995 and 1999 Masters Tournaments and finished runner-up in the 1996 U.S. Open.
He was a member of six Ryder Cup teams and was the 2013 Ryder Cup captain.
Sixty-three-year-old Tom Watson nearly won an Open Championship at the age of 59 and just shot three rounds in the 60s to finish tied for 38th at the Greenbrier Classic. Fred Couples is still competitive on the PGA Tour, even though he is 53 years old.
Love is trying to prove he can return from surgery and still compete on the PGA Tour. He struggled for several years with a neck injury that prevented him from performing at his best over the last few years.
After missing the cut in his first two starts in 2013, he withdrew from the Waste Management Phoenix Open and made the decision to have surgery to repair the problem. It kept him off the tour for over three months in February, March and April.
In his seven starts since returning to the tour, he has two missed cuts and withdrew from the AT&T National. His results are improving, however.
Love has not won on the PGA Tour since the 2008 Children’s Miracle Hospitals Network Classic. His eight-under par 67-70-68-67 at the Greenbrier Classic last week gave him his first top-10 finish of 2013 and proved he is back on track.
