Not surprising at all to see a professional golfer thinking of others before thinking of himself.
Japanese golfing sensation Ryo Ishikawa has pledged to donate his entire year's earnings to the relief effort in Japan after being nearly shaken off the map from a 9.0 earthquake earlier this year.
It's amazing to me that in other sports, where athletes are paid regardless of performance, they are still squabbling over how much money they deserve or how much money owners do not deserve.
Yes NFL, I am talking to you.
A professional golfer is paid almost purely on their performance on the course.
True, they do have endorsement deals with other companies, but the fact remains in golf that if you don't perform well, you don't get paid.
Choi, who won The Players Championship over David Toms in a playoff last Sunday, earned himself a cool $1.71 million for his victory.
But instead of going out and blowing his new found bounty what does he do?
He chooses to think of others before thinking of himself. A trait, I am sad to say, is not all that common not only with professional athletes, but with people in general in this day and age.
These days it seems that people would rather walk past you as if you don't even exist rather than smile or acknowledge your presence.
K.J. Choi and many other professional golfers and athletes have shown through the years to be class acts. Choosing to think and do for others before doing for themselves.
A lesson I believe we can all learn a little from.
