Charles Schwab Cup Race Assures Exciting Finish to Champions Tour Season

The senior tour is making a trip to Hawaii this week for the Pacific Links Hawaii Championship. It will be played on the Kapolei Golf Course and have a total purse of $1.8 million.
In October, the tour will head to North Carolina for the SAS Championship at Prestonwood Country Club and the Greater Hickory Classic at Rock Barn before moving to TPC San Antonio for the AT&T Championship.
2011 Charles Schwab Cup winner Tom Lehman, with one win and nine top-10 finishes, is leading the standings again this year.
Bernhard Langer is 150 points behind Lehman and has been the model of consistency this year with 13 top-10 finishes on the Champions Tour.
With two major championship wins, Roger Chapman is in third place, 287 points behind the leader.
Michael Allen and Fred Couples round out the top five, but are over 500 points behind.
The top-10 players are awarded points every week based on official prize money won in Champions Tour events. The winner of the season-long Charles Schwab Cup is recognized as the best golfer for the year and is awarded a $1 million bonus.
Also at stake is a spot in the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship. Only the top 30 players are invited to Desert Mountain in Scottsdale to compete for the $2.5 million purse.
Mark O’Meara currently holds the No. 30 spot and is looking to move up. Players outside the top 30 include Loren Roberts, John Houston, Bobby Clampett, Steve Pate and Mark McNulty.
Charles Schwab has assured an exciting finish to the Champions Tour year with a lot of money available as the season winds down for the old guys.
