Brandt Snedeker and Lee Westwood Produce Fireworks at WGC-HSBC in China

Phil has put together three great rounds of 66-69-66 and is 15 under par at the Olazabal Course at Mission Hills in the WGC-HSBC this week. Even so, he still trails Lee Westwood and Louis Oosthuizen by three shots heading into the final round tomorrow.
Brandt Snedeker just missed a 15-foot putt for eagle on the 18th hole on Saturday to shoot the first 59 in European Tour history. His 11-under-par 60 got him to 13 under par for the tournament and five shots back of the leaders.
Snedeker obliterated the course record of 63, which was set jointly by Ernie Els and second-round leader Oosthuizen on Friday. He carded 10 birdies, one eagle and seven pars in his nearly perfect round.
Among all of this madness, we don’t want to forget Lee Westwood, who is now tied for the lead with Oosthuizen after a third-round 61 that got him to 18 under par for the week.
Westwood started his round by making birdies on his first three holes. He had to settle for par on No. 4 but then proceeded to birdie No. 5, No. 7, and No. 9 to post a six-under-par 30 on the front nine. After making par at No. 10, he birdied No. 11, followed by pars at No. 12 and 13. He then went on a birdie barrage, with four consecutive birdies on Nos. 14-17. He missed a putt on No. 18 that would have given him the outright lead and tied him with Snedeker for the course record. Instead he had to settle for his 30-31, a total of 61 for the round.
The leaderboard at the WGC-HSBC also includes Ian Poulter, Bill Haas, Ernie Els, Adam Scott and Martin Kaymer. Luke Donald and Jason Dufner are both within striking distance if they can produce rounds in the low 60s tomorrow.
