Castro entered Friday's play with the lead at seven under and ensured he would keep at least a share of it with another seven-under in the second round.
He managed to string together a clean day by using a fast start with five birdies on the front nine to build a comfortable cushion to work with.

Castro's well-rounded afternoon made him all but unstoppable on the course at Crooked Stick, as he posted a driving accuracy percentage of 82.14 and a greens-in-regulation mark of 77.78 percent while gaining 1.898 strokes.

At the time of his finish, Castro had a three-stroke lead and was sitting pretty heading into the penultimate round. But that was before Johnson caught fire with a clean round of his own to put together a huge nine-under 63, which was a Crooked Stick course record, per the PGA Tour.
His day was headlined by a pair of eagles, one on the front nine and another on the back, as his putting game carried him.
In total, Johnson gained 2.838 strokes on the day, exhibiting his finest putting with a 31-foot birdie putt on No. 14 and a 24-foot eagle putt on No. 15, via the PGA Tour:
