Here is a look at the leaderboard:
The scores could be puzzling to some fans, as golfers are rarely celebrated for putting up such high numbers, but things are different at the Barracuda Championship.
Golfers at Montreux Golf and Country Club are playing under Modified Stableford rules. The fewer strokes on a hole, the more points a golfer earns. The higher the score, the higher the player is on the leaderboard.
Here is how each score is rewarded on the points scale, per the PGA Tour:
After recording 14 points Thursday, Chalmers reeled off 10 points Friday thanks to a monster back nine. He recorded just one birdie and one bogey on the front nine before sinking five birdies on his final eight holes of the afternoon.

He has a two-point lead on Gary Woodland and Martin Laird, who each have 22 points through two rounds.
Woodland recorded eight points by compiling five birdies Friday, but a pair of bogeys on the front nine limited his round.
Laird was the leader after one round, but he mustered only seven points Friday to drop one spot on the leaderboard.
He had a solid start to the day, birdieing five of his first 10 holes, but he sputtered toward the finish with bogeys on three of his final six holes.
With the easy scoring conditions, though, even a 10-point lead wouldn't be safe. This kind of tournament ensures that several players will remain within striking distance of the lead throughout the weekend.
Six golfers are within six points of the lead, and if Chalmers struggles even for just a pair of holes, things could get even tighter.
