Steven Bowditch raced out to an early lead during the first round of the AT&T Byron Nelson, shooting an impressive eight-under 62 to march out to an early two-stroke lead. Jimmy Walker finished the day six-under, while James Hahn and Ryan Palmer find themselves three strokes back.
PGA Tour on Twitter passed along some of the key stats from Bowditch's impressive round:
Bowditch seems to enjoy playing in Texas after winning the Valero Texas Open last year.
Jordan Spieth, on the other hand, finished with a solid if unspectacular one-under 69. After his round concluded, he was pretty blunt about his performance.
"Not a whole lot you can do with only two birdies in the round," he told Will Gray of GolfChannel.com.
Still, he wasn't too hard on himself, per Jason Sobel of ESPN:
He also provided one of the highlights of the day with this approach at the 10th.
He wasn't the only player who left jaws dropped with impressive shots throughout the day. John Merrick dazzled with this 43-foot putt at No. 6.
And Ken Duke, who impressed at three-under for the day, made this pretty birdie at the 18th.
