Despite the rainy weather at the TPC Four Seasons Resort, players haven't had any problems putting up low scores through 54 holes. The 14th hole remained shortened because the rain left it in such a poor state, taking it from a par four to three and making even par for the round a 69.
The grounds crew has had their hands full all weekend and done the best they can to make the course playable. Steven Bowditch has been atop the leaderboard or tied for the lead since Thursday and is seeking his second career PGA Tour win.
Here's how Bowditch and the rest of the field fared on Saturday.
The big winner on Saturday was Dustin Johnson, who started outside the top 25 and ended up in the top three thanks to a bogey-free seven-under 62. The American star has been inconsistent this season, though he does have one win at the WGC-Cadillac Championship in March.
Johnson is locked in heading into Sunday, as this approach shot on No. 18 shows, via PGA Tour on Twitter:
Given all of his problems off the course, seeing Johnson able to hit shots like that and have five top-10 finishes in his previous 11 events speaks to the raw talent he has. He's still prone to erratic rounds, but three straight days under par this week suggest his game is on point right now.
Per Jimmy Burch of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Johnson's round equaled the lowest of the tournament to this point:
Another player who made a move with a terrific round was Jonathan Randolph, who has come out of nowhere to put himself in contention on Sunday.
