His future certainly looks bright, but his present is already gleaming. With the victory, McIlroy jumps up to the world's No. 2 ranking, just behind Adam Scott.

McIlroy jumped six spots after his third major victory, surpassing the likes of Tiger Woods, Justin Rose, Henrik Stenson and more. This was a well-deserved leap ahead for the British Open's champion, as he joined some elite company on Sunday, via ESPN Stats & Info:
While McIlroy earned headlines with his masterful wire-to-wire performance in this year's Open Championship, Scott maintained his No. 1 ranking after quietly posting a six-under 66 on Sunday to finish tied for fifth at 12-under par.
Scott has been unbelievable in majors over the past several years, and Shane Bacon of Yahoo Sports tweeted his recent finishes:
Sergio Garcia's second-place finish allowed him to move up from No. 9 to No. 5, though he still continues his search for his first major victory. Meanwhile, Jim Furyk's solid fourth-place showing propelled him into the top 10, leapfrogging Jordan Spieth.
With more prestigious tournaments such as the WGC-Bridgestone and PGA Championship remaining on the slate, expect to see some more significant changes before the end of the year.
