Adam Scott Poised To Win His First Major and Become Relevant Again in 2011

When the UNLV graduate became a pro in 2000, the 20-year-old Australian was widely considered as the next Tiger Woods. Even though he has won at least one tournament per year since then, after a horrible 2009 stint where he missed 10 cuts—including a stretch of six-straight misses—it looked like Scott kangaroo-hopped out of golf's relevancy for good.
Even when Greg Norman, the 2009 President’s Cup captain, selected Scott as a captain’s pick, many critics criticized Norman for choosing a washed-up, underachieving player with no future.
But since 2009, Scott decided refocused his energy into having one of golf’s purest and powerful swings. However, it wouldn't be with his long-time swing coach, Butch Harmon.
Scott's new swing guru is his brother-in-law, Brad Malone, and Scott has largely credited Malone for helping him win the 2010 Valero Texas Open and finishing in the top 15 in three 2010 FedEx Cup playoff events.
Statistically speaking, according to PGA.com, Scott is ranked in the top 15 (13) in PGA’s all-around ranking in 2010, which encompasses driving distance, accuracy, greens in regulation, eagles, sand save percentage and birdie, putting and scoring average.
This shows that the notion that Scott is trash is, well, rubbish.
Critics forget Scott is just 30 and entering the prime of his career. He might have hopped out of relevancy in 2009, but his 2010 campaign and statistics should convince the naysayers otherwise.
