2012 Wells Fargo Championship: Tiger Woods’ Inconsistency Continues to Haunt Him

Every time he plays in a tournament, he gives us good reason to give up on him as the best golfer in the world, yet we continue to put those type of expectations on him.
Last month, at the Masters, everyone was ready to crown him the champion during the week leading up to the championship, but the pressure was too much and he finished a mediocre 42nd.
Poor Tiger.
Now, before this week's Wells Fargo Championship, you saw ledes like this one at USA Today:
"If Tiger Woods wins the Wells Fargo Championship we may never hear another word from him."
I'm pretty sure other golfers aren't getting attention like this, especially before a tournament even starts. Unfortunately for Tiger, it appears this week's hype is going to be followed up by more disappointment.
Through 11 holes, he is currently one shot over par and tied for 97th place. Ninety-seventh.
Poor Tiger.
But, what exactly is wrong with the 14-time Major winner? You know, besides the fact that he gets hyped up way too much and has no chance of living up to expectations.
In a word, it's inconsistency.
Not only is it round-by-round inconsistency—for example, Woods followed up a plus-one first round at the Honda Classic with an eight-under fourth round—but it's hole-by-hole inconsistency.
So far today, Woods has bogeyed three holes and birdied two, and that's just through 11 total holes. For better or for worse, he just doesn't like to par (his six total pars is tied for 125th, although that stat is a little misleading since golfers are currently on different holes or finished).
In fact, his inconsistency is almost consistent.
He bogeyed hole No. 1 only to birdie No. 2. He bogeyed No. 6 only to birdie No. 7.
