2011 Masters Leaderboard: Will Rory McIlroy Be Wearing Green Come Sunday?

That is, of course, not true if your name happens to be Rory McIlroy.
If you are Rory McIlroy, you would find yourself leading the 2011 Masters after one round.
The youngest leader after one round in Masters history, McIlroy shot a seven-under par 65 today. He found himself alone atop the leader board most of the day until Spaniard Alvaro Quiros matched that number at days end.
Leading the Masters after one round, however, leaves a lot of golf left to be played. After all, the tournament really does not start until the back nine on Sunday.
And although history says otherwise, there is no reason McIlroy will not be slipping on the green jacket come Sunday.
Sure, McIlroy is inexperienced in majors.
This is only McIlroy's ninth major golf tournament. Then again, he is only 21 years old, so that is down right impressive.
Even with his "lack of experience" McIlroy has notched three top-three finishes. In the last two majors, the British Open and the PGA Championship, McIlroy finished third.
Also keep in mind that at the 2010 British Open, McIlroy shot a 63 in the first round, only to shoot 80 the next day. The 80, however, was the product of brutal winds that actually resulted in a brief stoppage of play at the tournament.
So to say McIlroy does not feel comfortable where he is would be incorrect.
While he has never been in this position before, McIlroy knows how to handle pressure. If he did not, he would not be the ninth ranked player in the world.
Even his colleagues are singing his praises.
"He's got a lot of talent," Tiger Woods said after his round.
