2010: Year of the Tiger

Whether or not 2010 is the year of the Tiger on the PGA TOUR is to be determined.
Due to a personal issue, Tiger announced on December 11th that he is taking an "indefinite" break from professional golf.
Unlike last year at this time, when he was recovering from major knee surgery and provided periodic updates on his progress, Tiger has been quiet and hidden from the public eye since his Thanksgiving car accident.
In the big picture Tiger may or may not come back to play professional golf.
"Indefinite" means not definite and could mean never.
Quite frankly I recall first hearing about Tiger Woods and wondering about a youngster with a Green Beret father that played tricks on him to develop his mental toughness.
I am sure they were not like the tricks my father played on me and my brothers jingling coins in his pocket when we were putting with a chance to win a skin from him and Uncle Leonard.
These were war time maneuvers to make a peaceful kid develop special concentration skills to rise above prejudices and become the best player he could become and the world has ever seen.
On the golf course, thirteen full seasons and 71 championships including 14 Majors later the father's wisdom has proven effective beyond a doubt.
But life isn't played on a golf course or even in the corporate world.
At most funerals no one's resume is read or professional accomplishments highlighted.
