Aaand…the 2010 Masters.
Well, perhaps that last one is a little premature, but the stage is certainly set for the 2010 Masters to become one of those historically significant an truly memorable golf tournaments.
James Cameron in partnership with Dreamworks could not create a better setting nor could they write a write better plot for a final round of a major championship.
We have the setting— Augusta National.
We have the conditions— soft greens and almost no wind to speak of.
We have the characters— Phil Mickelson, Lee Westwood, Tiger Woods and K.J. Choi.
And finally, we have a level of interest that transcends just American golf fans.
All of Great Britain will be huddled around the television sets at the pub tonight to see if Lee Westwood can become the first Englishman since Nick Faldo to win the Masters.
All of South Korea will be tuned in over their morning coffee to see if K.J. Choi can become the second Korean in a row to win a major championship.
Then we have the two most popular players in the world— Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods— involved in not only a battle with their golf clubs, but the timeless battle of good vs. well, not so good.
No one knows how things will play out this afternoon at Augusta National.
But whether it’s Westwood, Mickelson, Woods, Choi or someone else slipping into a green jacket at around 7:30pm eastern, the 2010 Masters is sure to become an instant classic.
