2010 British Open: John Daly Finds Peace at the Old Course

That is what John Daly had to say after his opening round of 66, currently tied for second place at the British Open.
So far, in the early stages of the third major of the PGA Tour season, JD's performance is the talk of the tournament. Well, and you have McIlroy's 63, of course.
Nonetheless, Daly's performance came from an unlikely source—Daly himself.
Big John was not exactly setting the PGA Tour on fire coming into the British Open. He has not finished higher than 55th in his last seven starts leading into this major; however, he found an inner peace here in Scotland at St. Andrews.
"It’s just a great course that I just love it," Daly said. "I don’t know why. It just suits my game…For me it’s just a golf course that not only brings great memories, but it’s a memory before you’ve ever played it because of all the great players that have won and played it. So it’s just a special place."
Even though Daly had not been playing particularly well leading into this tournament, you would have never guessed it with his play on-course today.
He started out by birdying the first hole and made the turn coming in at 31 with the lead. Going out, he added birdies at No. 10 and 11 before carding his first bogey of the day at No. 16.
Even with the bogey, Daly carded his first round of 66 and was two shots off the lead of McIlroy to begin the British Open.
