Michael Schumacher Addresses Retirement Rumors: “You Cannot Get Rid of Me”

“You cannot get rid of me, let's put it this way,” Schumacher stated. He then went on to affirm his long-term commitment to winning with Mercedes: “Our goal is to win the championship, better earlier than later, but it is a process and we are not magic, so we trying to maximize our opportunity in deciding early to prepare for 2011.”
Speculation about the Mercedes driver’s future began to run rampant in recent weeks as Schumacher’s one-time team owner Eddie Jordan indicated he believed the Mercedes driver was becoming “disillusioned” with his comeback after being consistently outperformed by his teammate. Schumacher’s former managing director Flavio Briatore went further this week stating that he believed Schumacher realized that his return to the sport was a “huge mistake,” and that at 41 Schumacher simply “can’t keep up.”
Since the decision to return to Formula One after a three-year absence this season the seven-time world champion has faced many questions about his decision to return. However, in a few very short statements Schumacher finally put to rest any rumors about if he will be in the paddock next season.
