Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg Crash on Lap 1 of 2016 Spanish Grand Prix

Hamilton, who began the race in pole position, was overtaken by his Mercedes team-mate going into the opening corner. Then, trying to win his place back later in the lap, the world champion found himself edged onto the grass, before losing control of his car and spinning into Rosberg.

As is often the case in these incidents, plenty were trying to determine which driver was at fault. F1 journalist Chris Medland thinks both drivers could ultimately be considered culpable:
Mercedes non-executive chairman Niki Lauda stated that Hamilton was more to blame. "It was a miscalculation in Lewis' head, I blame him more than Nico," he said, per Sky Sports F1. He also said for both men to be eliminated in the first corner is "completely unacceptable," per the F1 Twitter feed.
Mercedes chief Toto Wolf had his say on the incident too, per Grand Prix Times:
The double elimination means Rosberg’s run of successive wins is over; the German had triumphed in all four races in 2016, having won the last three races of the previous campaign.
It means he remains on 100 points for the 2016 season, with Hamilton 43 back. With no Mercedes in the field, there will be a rare opportunity for a driver from another team to take the chequered flag in Barcelona.
