Hispania Confirm Their Second Driver, Giving Us the Full 24 on the 2011 Grid

Vitantonio Liuzzi has been confirmed as the second driver for Hispania for the 2011 season. Liuzzi had been testing for Hispania earlier during the winter and was widely rumoured to be taking the seat.
Last year, Vitantonio underachieved for the Force India team and was sacked at the end of the 2010 season and replaced by Paul Di Resta.
Liuzzi was the fall guy in Q1 on some occasions, a place where the 2010 Force India car should never have been. He was outperformed by Adrian Sutil during the season, and when he was sacked it was hardly a surprise.
By going to Hispania, he has just about kept himself in Formula 1 because otherwise he would probably be out of the sport altogether.
It does mean that there is almost no chance of being anywhere except the back of the grid. He will be near the back, and the chance of him getting any points is minimal. In other words, Liuzzi is in a strange position.
He needs to have a good season to try to rebuild some of his reputation after his poor 2010 season. However, for Hispania it is hard to see how he is going to be anywhere other than the back. The Lotus team seems to have taken a step forward, and it looks like Marussia Virgin and Hispania will be at the back.
