In the run up to the climax of the season, we have to start asking ourselves whether this could end up being the showdown of all showdowns at the final race in Abu Dhabi.

The ultimate position is still within the reach of the same five drivers, and anyone that has any interest in motor sport will be watching closely for the next four weeks.

So who is going to take this year's crown? You could say that Red Bull are already putting the champagne on ice, but then we've seen some serious mishaps during the season so far.

Have these drivers really put their differences behind them or would they stop at nothing to take the glory? With the pressure really mounting, you just can't rule out another sideswipe or overambitious move that could cost one or both of them dearly.

I find myself plagued with "what ifs" right now. What if Lewis hadn't been plagued with DNFs? What if that mechanic had taken the bungs out of Jenson's car in Monaco? What if Sebby hadn't stuck his car in the side of him in Spa?

That's racing, sure, but it doesn't make it any less of a bitter pill to swallow for them.

All that is certain now is that the final trio of events are going to be epic, espe...
