At the most popular circuit on the current Formula 1 calender, the racing weekend at Spa threw up a welcome result.
Culminating in a definitive gap appearing between Webber, Hamilton and the rest of the field, the Belgium Grand Prix provided a top three of widely respected drivers.
And to move the moment into a greater amount of poignancy, how refreshing it was to witness arguably the best three runners of the current season occupying the steps of the podium.
Robert Kubica has worked wonders in a Renault car that is still miles behind the likes of Mclaren and Red Bull. His third place finish could have been one better if he had not made an erratic and out of character error in the pit-lane. His inability to stop efficiently meant Webber was gifted a jump into second.
The Aussie himself did well to reignite his prospects after a disastrous opening. He failed to initialise the clutch on the starting grid and paid the penalty. His Red Bull's anti-stall system saved some of his blushes, but he fell back to seventh from first.
Consequentially his recovery was a true testament to the Australian's confident and reliable performance this season. His four win tally remains the highest of the season thus far.
Whilst his teammate Vettel has made some clumsy mistakes, Webber paradoxically excelled. After years in the shadows of Coulthard and Vettel this just may be his year.
Then there was Lewis Hamilton, who capitalised on the early misfortunes of Webber.
He earned victory in the first corner after leaping to the front. After that his triumph never seemed in doubt, even despite two safety car periods. The evaporation of his lead on both occasions only gave him further opportunities to display his dominance and raw pace.
