One of Eddie Jones’ first tasks as England coach is establishing a chain of order he believes can lead the team to glory, and for some, that means Chris Robshaw could lose his place as captain of the national team. Former England centre Will Greenwood recently stated, per Sky Sports, that he expects to see a change of armband-wearer under the first foreign coach the Red Rose has appointed. Both old names and new are being mentioned as candidates for the position, which demands a certain set of criteria that very few players actually possess. We’ve dissected the top four candidates to...

Some major scalps were taken by the away sides last weekend as both Clermont Auvergne and Munster suffered dents to proud home records. The weather in many parts of Europe made for some stodgy rugby in all three major leagues, but at Twickenham there were plenty of tries piled up by Wasps and Saracens, who take the top two slots in this ranking as their rich form continues. Connacht make a big move up the field with their history-making win at Munster, as do Toulon for their equally long-awaited victory in the Massif Central. There is one more round of domestic action ahead before European matters...

Ranking the top five fastest wingers in world rugby on their finishing is a tough task, mainly because we can’t be certain who the fastest handful are. What we really need is for them all to sign up to race each other. Until that happens, though, here is Bleacher Report’s top five pacey wingers on their finishing prowess. Honourable mentions to those who did not quite make the final list go to Anthony Watson, Santiago Cordero and Yoann Huget. Who has a faster 20-metre split than this guy above? A 48-18 drubbing of Worcester Warriors saw Saracens advance their campaign as Aviva Premiership leaders on Saturday, and Mark McCall’s squad have had plenty of star performers this season. In France’s Top 14, Toulon injected some much-needed life into their season after beating leaders Clermont Auvergne 35-9 at Marcel Michelin, while Dan Carter took in Racing 92’s 28-13 victory over Toulouse. The Pro12 power race was tipped on its head after Connacht beat Munster in Limerick for the first time since 1986, where Bundee Aki grabbed the decisive try for Pat Lam’s side. This...

Toulon got their domestic season back on track on Saturday after the French heavy-hitters defeated Top 14 leaders Clermont Auvergne 35-9 in their own backyard. The European champions weren’t the only team to make major strides in league competition, though, as Saracens, Exeter Chiefs, Wasps and Northampton Saints each continued good Premiership form. Wasps did suffer a major blow, however, after seeing Christian Wade suffer a significant injury in the 32-6 win over Toulon on Nov. 22, putting his England place in doubt for the Six Nations. We also have news from Down Under as Sam Burgess’...

Eddie Jones begins his job officially as England head coach on December 1, and he will have roughly a month to draw up the names he wants to form his first elite player squad in January. The former Japan coach has already highlighted that a large percentage of the World Cup squad will be young enough to go on to the 2019 World Cup. But we are bound to see the Australian usher in some new faces to the fray, as well as some who have fallen by the wayside under the old regime. The dawning of a new era always offers those left out by the old guard a new chance to impress and prove they...

One of the major elephants in the room was cornered, captured and chased out no sooner had Eddie Jones taken his seat at his first press conference as England’s head coach. The Australian, who watched his own country ascend to the final of the 2015 Rugby World Cup after tossing out their rule not to select overseas players, told the assembled media that he would abide by the same regulation in England. Per Sachin Nakrani of the Guardian, Jones said: Sometimes you see things differently when you’re on the outside … I want players who want to play for England and if you want to...

The European season moved into its second week, and with the fall of the mercury came the rise of the red rose. All six English participants in the European Rugby Champions Cup recorded victories in the continent’s premier competition, giving incoming England coach Eddie Jones plenty of performances to assess when he sits down with the DVDs from the weekend’s action. First on his running order will doubtless be Wasps’ stunning performance against Toulon, whose trophy cabinet has provided the silverware with a roof over its head for the last three seasons. Wasps, therefore, make...
