Scotland narrowly beat Argentina 21-19 to claim a hard-fought victory on South American soil. Duncan Weir kicked the decisive points late on, but there was still time for a dramatic finish. Argentina fought themselves into drop-kick territory, but the kick was missed, and Scotland’s comeback was preserved. The Scots had rallied from nine points down to inch their way inexorably into a two-point lead. Increased power in the scrum was a decisive factor, as the Scotland Rugby Union Twitter page noted: Earlier, the Scots found it hard to deal with Argentina’s quick and intelligent play....

England held on for a nail-biting 21-20 victory over South Africa in the final of the IRB Junior World Championship at Eden Park, New Zealand. It was a tight game both on the scoreboard and in the way it was played, as each team looked to go too wide with the ball and space was at a premium. The English did their damage in the 10 minutes either side of halftime, notching up 18 of their points during this period. Their forward pack was at its best during this time, applying pressure to the South Africans, retaining ball well and forcing the defence onto the back foot. It was a break from Nick Tompkins...

Wales arrive in Nelspruit battered and bruised both physically and mentally after their humbling at the hands of South Africa last week. Warren Gatland’s men were destroyed 38-16 in a five-try mauling by the Springboks, and their Kiwi coach will be looking for a response from his players. Wales have never beaten South Africa on their home soil and it would seem unlikely that they can turn that sort of thumping around to claim a first, historic win. With that being said, stranger things have happened. Here are the key battles. Begin Slideshow Read More →

England have little else but pride left to fight for in their trip to Hamilton on Saturday, having already suffered two Test defeats to the All Blacks and surrendered the summer series to Steve Hansen’s giants. However, that won’t leave Stuart Lancaster any less determined to leave an imprint on the reigning world champions before his side depart New Zealand, with 80 minutes of elite rugby left to play. The England coach will use the opportunity as a last chance for experimentation against Southern Hemisphere opposition and a 3-0 whitewash won’t sound too appealing to any within...

France will be looking to claim a consolation victory over Australia at the Allianz Stadium in Sydney on Saturday after the three-match Test series was put beyond them last weekend. The Wallabies destroyed Les Bleus 50-23 in the first Test and then claimed the series in a dire Melbourne outing which Australia won 6-0. The third and final Test of the series will hopefully be a vast improvement on that encounter and both teams will likely look to experiment in the dead rubber. Read on for full television, live streaming and scheduling details as well as a preview of the matchup. Date: Saturday,...

Wales will be looking to put in a much-improved performance when they take on South Africa in the second Test in Nelspruit on Saturday. Warren Gatland‘s side were outplayed in the first Test in Durban as they were downed 38-16 for their heaviest defeat to the Springboks since 2008. The game was out of reach from the early stages and, despite Wales not conceding a point in the final 29 minutes, it was an easy day at the office for the South African team. Wales must look to avoid another convincing loss and a series defeat which would continue their terrible run against the southern hemisphere...

A curious test series comes to an end in Sydney this weekend. France barely showed up in Brisbane where they were drubbed 50-23. A week later in Melbourne, a shocker of a contest saw Australia squeak home by two penalties to nil while Philippe Saint-Andre’s men at least showed they hadn’t forgotten how to defend all together. So guessing what sort of game we will get on Saturday is a total shot in the dark. France at least have history on their side. They have never been whitewashed 3-0 by Australia, as ESPNScrum.com point out. France and Australia have only contested one three-Test...

Playing international rugby for any team is a massive feat, but showing enough consistency to rake in a century of caps for one of the most talented nations in the world is a difference achievement entirely. That was the milestone reached by Adam Jones last weekend, who made his 95th appearance for Wales to go along with the five British and Irish Lions caps he’s earned down the years. The occasion wasn’t the happiest one, with Warren Gatland’s men falling 38-16 to the Springboks, but the defeat doesn’t put a dampener on the accolade of the shaggy-haired prop or the legacy...

Scotland and Argentina have met on 13 occasions over the last 24 years, and Vern Cotter takes his side to South America this Friday in the hopes of furthering his impact at the nation’s helm. Scotland are so far unbeaten under Cotter’s command, having triumphed over the United States before claiming a closer two-point victory over Canada last weekend, but this week the team heads south of the border. The last time these two outfits met was at the 2011 Rugby World Cup, where the Pumas ran out as 13-12 victors, and spectators can only hope Friday’s fixture holds similarly tight...

Rugby Canada and London Irish forward Jebb Sinclair was sent off the field with a straight red card last weekend in the late stages of Canada’s International Rugby Board (IRB) test match with Scotland at BMO Field in Toronto. The controversial decision had the effect not only of removing one of Canada’s most influential players but also of overturning a Canadian penalty kick that would likely have given Canada the win. Canada would go on to lose the match by a score of 19-17. The furious Canadian crowd at BMO Field vented their anger at IRB referee Mike Fraser, but since...
