The official cut at the U.S. Open hasn’t come quite yet after inclement weather put a deal to the first round on Thursday, which forced the second round to finish on Saturday. This is what the current leaderboard looks like after two days of play: With a $10 million purse up for grabs, the U.S. Open is one of the richest tournaments of the PGA Tour where the winner will take home $1.8 million, the same amount Jordan Spieth took home last year, according to GolfAndCourse.com. Predictions Dustin Johnson Will Get His Major Dustin Johnson finished in ties for second at the U.S....

Due to weather delays on Thursday, Saturday’s 2016 U.S. Open play will feature an uneven slate of some golfers finishing their second rounds, while much of the field will start round 2. Dustin Johnson was excellent on Friday, as he surged to a tie with Andrew Landry at four under after playing 36 holes at Oakmont. Landry is only one round in, so there will be pressure on him to maintain his play knowing he is so far behind Johnson in terms of overall strokes. The extensive list of Saturday tee times can be found at USOpen.com, and take a look below at the tournament’s television...

What is typically known as “moving day” at the U.S. Open will become “catch-up day” as a host of players seek to get back on schedule on Saturday. One man that’s well on course at the Oakmont Country Club is Dustin Johnson, who shot two impeccable rounds on Friday to take the clubhouse lead at four under par before play was curtailed. Andrew Landry is alongside him, although he’s only played one round of what is a treacherous course. Spectators on Saturday can gear up for a fascinating day’s play as the golfers try to cope with what has been a storm-disrupted...

Stop if you’ve heard this narrative before: Dustin Johnson has the lead at a major and there’s no way he can mess this up. That’s why they play 72 holes in golf. Johnson, who has had trouble in the past maintaining leads in big-time tournaments, is tied at the top with Andrew Landry at four-under par. Lee Westwood is right behind the two Americans at three under, followed by a three-way tie for fourth place. Here’s a look at the full leaderboard. Is This Where Dustin Johnson Breaks Through? One year ago, also at Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania, Johnson suffered one...

After three days of play, Shane Lowry of Ireland sits at the top of the leaderboard at five under par at the 116th U.S. Open Championship at Oakmont Country Club. Heavy rain on the first day has wreaked havoc with the schedule all weekend long, but Lowry has maintained his focus throughout. He shot a first-round 68, then a second-round 70 before assuming the lead as darkness fell on Day 3 with a five under par score through 14 holes. Lowry took over the lead from Dustin Johnson, who is three shots back through 13 holes, while first-time Major player Andrew Lowry has shown nerves of steel as he...

Two days into the U.S. Open at Oakmont, Pennsylvania, and little is carved in stone. Wicked weather impacted everyone in the field, which means the 36-hole cut line won’t even be official until sometime Saturday. The world’s No. 1 player, Jason Day, is in some peril, however, as are 2015 champion Jordan Spieth and career Grand Slam wannabe Phil Mickelson. But by the time Saturday is complete, the picture will be in focus. This is Moving Day, where the 2016 tournament really begins. Here are the biggest questions heading into Saturday at Oakmont. If Jason Day is to claim his first U.S. Open championship, he needs to make friends quickly with the course that tortured him Friday. Day has almost never been worse in a major than he was while carding a 76 during his rain-delayed first round, a six-over score that left him in danger of missing the cut at a major for the first time since 2012. The world’s No. 1-ranked golfer was better when he returned on short notice to play the second round and whittled his aggregate score to five over through 15 holes before competition was suspended by darkness. But the Australian is still nine shots...

The swaggering, unique gait of Dustin Johnson, when he’s prowling the fairways and contending at another tour event, is the stuff that makes fans and broadcasters wax poetic, if not comedic. It’s been variously characterized as panther-like, serpentine and akin to a slow saunter. The latter, in particular, fit the bill on Friday. Despite playing the purportedly toughest course in the U.S. Open’s tournament repertoire, the 31-year-old cruised through 36 holes while hardly breaking a sweat to claim a share of the lead at four under par with unheralded rookie Andrew Landry. Continuing...

After rain suspended play Thursday, the U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club featured unorthodox schedules for many players Friday. Those who did not finish Thursday completed Round 1 early Friday. Then, players such as Jordan Spieth and Day 1 leader Andrew Landry were done for the day, while others such as Jason Day and Dustin Johnson returned to the course for Round 2. The remainder of the players will finish the second round Saturday, when a cut line will be established. Johnson was the story of the day, as he surged into a tie for first place with Landry thanks to an 18-hole advantage on...

World No. 3 Rory McIlroy is in deep trouble after he completed a seven-over 77 first round at the U.S. Open Friday morning. He sits in a tie for 119th and is four strokes behind the cut line. Golf Digest‘s Mike O’Malley pointed out that this was one of his worst performances at the U.S. Open: Here is how his tough round that spanned over two days looked: McIlroy was able to get 15 holes out of the way Thursday before rain delayed his round and ultimately cut it short. After the first three holes, he was already two over, before his first and only bogey of the round got...
