It’s big-money time on the PGA Tour as the top players in the world look to bring home $10 million for first place in the FedEx Cup. The top 100 players in the standings after The Barclays move on to the Deutsche Bank Championship, which will then narrow the field down to 70 for the BMW Championship and eventually just 30 for the Tour Championship. Each event has its own prize, but the real focus for the players is to stay alive for a chance to bring home the FedEx Cup title at the end of September. These playoff events feature high point totals and in turn quick swings in the standings,...

The second week of the FedEx Cup playoffs has arrived, and with it the Deutsche Bank Championship (don’t say it like this guy) from TPC Boston in Norton, Massachusetts, which is (fun fact) about 10 miles from where the New England Patriots play. Those still alive in the FedEx Cup playoffs number 100 golfers. With a field of 70 for next week’s BMW Championship, even the most mathematically challenged among us can calculate 30 golfers won’t be making it to Crooked Stick in Carmel, Indiana. All of the top 100 golfers in the points standing (except Danny Willett) will...

Rickie Fowler led after 54 holes for the fourth time in his PGA career at The Barclays last week only to lose to Patrick Reed, and both are in the second group of favorites in the odds to win this week’s Deutsche Bank Championship behind Jason Day at +650 (bet $100 to win $650) at sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark. Day finished in a three-way tie for fourth at The Barclays, taking home $351,000, which is more than $1 million less than Reed earned in winning the tournament by one stroke over Sean O’Hair and Emiliano Grillo. Day was also the betting favorite at The Barclays. Reed is...

Patrick Reed announced his presence on the PGA Tour a few years ago, when he called himself a top-five player in an infamous 2014 interview. He backed up that claim on Sunday, when he won The Barclays at the famed Bethpage Black Course in Farmingdale, New York. The victory in the first of the FedEx Cup playoff tournaments allowed Reed to move to the top of the FedEx Cup rankings. That position had previously been the domain of Australian Jason Day, but Reed outlasted the field to win The Barclays, propelling him to the top slot. Day is now the No. 2 player in the rankings. Here’s a look...

The automatic qualifiers for the United States’ 2016 Ryder Cup team are official, and the list features some of the best golfers in the world, including No. 2-ranked Dustin Johnson and No. 3-ranked Jordan Spieth. The team’s official Twitter account announced the eight men who are set to compete in Minnesota: Patrick Reed secured his spot in the field with a win at the Barclays, knocking out a fading Rickie Fowler. Fowler was in first place heading into Sunday, but his 54-hole lead vanished with a final-round 74, causing him to finish the tournament tied for seventh. “I wasn’t...

He needed a collapse from Rickie Fowler, but Patrick Reed topped a loaded field at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, New York, to win the Barclays on Sunday and seize the top position in the FedEx Cup standings. Jason Day came into the Barclays atop the standings, but he moved down to second after tying for fourth place at the Barclays. Reed shot a solid one-under 70 in the final round to bring his tournament total to nine under par. Fowler entered Sunday’s round with the lead, but he struggled on his way to a three-over 74 and finished at six under for the tournament. Here is...

On Thursday, Patrick Reed looked like the only man who was capable of taming Bethpage State Park’s black course. On Sunday, he confirmed his case. Reed shot a one-under 70 in Sunday’s fourth round, coming back from one stroke behind to win the 2016 Barclays tournament. He finished nine under overall and shot par or better in all four rounds at the difficult Farmingdale, New York, course. Callaway Golf congratulated him on his win: Sean O’Hair and Emiliano Grillo tied for second place at eight under. Jason Day, Adam Scott and Gary Woodland tied for fourth with matching seven-under...

Coming into Sunday, Jordan Spieth knew he’d need a big round to compete at the Barclays. It didn’t happen. Spieth carded a two-under 69, moving him to five under for the tournament going into the clubhouse. He was tied with Justin Thomas for 10th place overall when he left the course. Barring a change atop the leaderboard, Spieth is in line for his second top-10 finish in his last six tournaments. He’s battled constant bouts of frustration since winning the Dean & DeLuca Invitational in May but could have contended at Bethpage State Park if it weren’t for shaky...
