Steve Elkington is currently in first place on Friday at the HP Byron Nelson Invitational after 11 holes at minus eight for the tournament. The weather that delayed the first round was finished with eight players sharing the lead at minus four. Elkington opened with three birdies in four holes to grab the lead at minus seven and then added another birdie to reach minus eight. My C-player back-up, Joe...

James Nitties and Jason Day share the lead at minus-four after nine holes at the HP Byron Nelson Invitational on Thursday, May 20. Rain has delayed the first day, so play will resume in the morning to finish the first round, and then the second round will start right up. Dustin Johnson is at minus-two so far and is one of my fantasy players this week. My projected winner, Heath Slocum, has not started...

Your next PGA Tour Event is the HP Byron Nelson Invitational, played at the TPC Four Seasons Course-Las Colinas, in Irving, Texas. Last year’s winner, Rory Sabbattini will defend his title starting Thursday May 20th, and hopefully still will be in the hunt through Sunday May 23rd. Sabbattini has done nothing special this seaon, so far, missing six cuts out of 12 tournaments, with only one top...

Tiger Woods is lulling his opponents into thinking he is finished being competitive. This summer, he will win the US Open at Pebble Beach. Then he will win the British Open at St. Andrews. He might enter in a few events afterwards, and probably play the FedEx Cup Playoff Events and will win the FedEx Cup. Just another average year from the soon-to-be best golfer of all time. After 2010, two majors...

The Valero Texas Open, the first event of the Texas Swing was won by Adam Scott. Scott played very well all weekend and finally ended his two-year win-less streak. This week brings the HP Byron Nelson Classic, which will be played at the TPC Four Seasons Course, Las Colinas, in Irving, Texas. Rory Sabbattini is the defending champion here, but is not playing well enough of late to be a major factor. I...

The player pictured is not Matt Jones. Matt Jones had a bit better day at minus 6 than my A player in fantasy this week in Ernie Els. Ernie is not responding in the hot Texas air, and may need some oxygen before Friday is over at this rate. He did, however, post an even round of 72, but is already six shots back. For those not too familiar will Jones, he is from Sydney, New South Wales, Austrailia. He...

Tiger Woods is certainly struggling so far in his first three “PGA Tour” events since returning from his “leave of absence”—going by his normal winning percentage, anyhow. Statistically, the next tournament Woods plays in should be a win, seeing that he usually wins at the astonishing pace of one out of 3.5 tries. With long-time swing coach Hank Haney parting ways with...

Ernie Els has two tour wins this season, and will be the favorite easily in this tournament, in my humble golfing opinion. South Africa is pretty hot, I would assume, having never been there. But hey, it is Africa, right? Els will play well in this hot humid type weather, as the late spring succumbs to the sweltering heat of the Texas summer. That seems like a good plan anyway, as I have selected him...

Lee Westwood leads the TPC at Sawgrass at -12 going into the weekend. As I stated just yesterday, Westwood won’t win this tournament. His weekend play is never the same as Thursdays and Fridays. Watch as he crumbles like an old cookie left in the sun too long. Phil Mickelson is at minus-6 now through six holes on Saturday. I think he is also down too many shots to mount a challenge on this course. Tiger...

Lee Westwood will never win this golf tournament. Give him a nine-shot lead. You will see night and day as his golf game changes over to super conservative for two days and he will not be mentioned on Sunday. Tiger Woods is mired 10 shots behind, and on this kind of course, very difficult to make up. Phil needs to shoot himself into contention on Friday, but this course is not the best for his game. This...
