“A” for effort. On the 18th hole at The Barclays on Saturday afternoon, Phil Mickelson attempted to hit a ball out of the bunker with his back facing the cup. It didn’t pan out too well, as the ball skied straight up only to fall right back into the bunker. Nonetheless, the crowd was really into it, oohing and aahing during the wizard-like shot. Lefty did hit the...

Grounded. A toddler attempted to hit a golf ball using his dad’s face as a tee, and as expected, it didn’t go so well. The little guy smacked pops right in the face, leading to the painful “Oh my.” Obviously, it wasn’t a real golf club, but that had to sting. Sei Young Kim, 22, stunned her opponent and made two incredible shots to win the LPGA Tour’s Lotte Championship in Kapolei, Hawaii, on Saturday. Phil Mickelson apparently didn’t want Tiger Woods to have all of the exciting shots during the third round of the Masters on Saturday, so he joined the fun late in the day. Facing a 40-foot putt at the 16th hole, Mickelson sank it for birdie to move to 12-under. He promptly bogeyed the next hole, however, and finished the day at 11-under. He is currently seven strokes behind...

At the age of 14, Jordan Spieth was already a golf phenom. In 2008, the sophomore at Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas had dreams just like any kid. His “ultimate goal” back then was to one day win the Masters. Seven years later, Spieth is on the verge of living that dream out. Now 21, Spieth is dominating the field at the 2015 Masters Tournament, shooting a 14-under...

This is a first. Seth Haley and Josh Nowicki decided to stray from the norm and do something that has never been done before: golf on Lake Michigan. The two buddies spoke with Wilx.com to explain why they played this frigid sport: Seth and I both spend a lot of time at Lake Michigan and have been talking about various photo and film project we could do with the ice on Lake Michigan....

How does that happen? During the 2015 Texas Open at AT&T Oaks Course on Thursday, golfer Troy Merritt broke his 2-iron on the 11th hole. Merritt didn’t just crack the 2-iron—he caved in the face of the club. You would think he must have annihilated the ball. Wrong. The tee shot traveled only 155 yards and didn’t even make the fairway. He ended up bogeying the...

It’s safe to say Jonathan Byrd is having a better weekend than Ernie Els at the 2015 Valspar Championship. While Els found out his club doesn’t double as an ax, Byrd sank a long hole-in-one. On the par-three 15th hole, Byrd hit a winding shot to the green that took two bounces before landing in the cup. The excitement didn’t last long, as Byrd missed the cut for the next...

March hasn’t been the best month for golf clubs. Last week, we saw Rory McIlroy throw his club into a water hazard in frustration at the WGC-Cadillac Championship. This week, Ernie Els snapped his club in half during a punch shot at the 2015 Valspar Championship. In the second round, Els ended up with a difficult shot behind a tree, which resulted in his club snapping...
