James Rodriguez Injury: Updates on Real Madrid Star’s Thigh and Return

Rodriguez Out vs. Espanyol Saturday, Sept. 12 Rodriguez was unable to play Saturday, two days after Real Madrid released a statement on his condition:
Following the tests carried out on James Rodríguez today in the Sanitas La Moraleja University Hospital, the player has been diagnosed with tear in his left thigh muscle, resulting from a knock he sustained during the match between Colombia and Peru. His condition will be evaluated.
According to AS English, the 24-year-old fell victim to a harsh tackle just before the hour mark and was immediately replaced by Fabian Castillo.
The Spanish newspaper also shared comments from Colombia's medical team, indicating the injury isn't all that serious: "James has knee trauma, it’s not serious and the player was withdrawn from the game as a precautionary measure."
Rodriguez was handed a starting position after Real's disappointing La Liga opener against Sporting Gijon and immediately impressed against Real Betis, scoring twice and adding an assist, per WhoScored.com.
The 2014 World Cup hero is expected to enjoy a breakout season in 2015-16, his second with the Spanish giants after a solid first year in Madrid.
Versatile enough to play as an attacking midfielder or a winger, he gives new manager Rafa Benitez plenty of options to rotate. It was smart he rested against Espanyol to make sure his knee is back to 100 percent soon than later and avoid aggravating the injury.
