That means that teams like Italy and the Netherlands, for example, will be paired with Pot 1 teams at this year's World Cup. Germany and the Netherlands? Brazil and Italy?
Oh, the sweet, sweet possibilities.
With so many countries so utterly terrified of the possible group selection—let's be honest, a very good team can see its chances drastically diminished by a poor draw, while fringe contenders like the United States can see the all-important entry into the knockout phase utterly denied—it seems only fitting to go through the possible Group of Death scenarios.
Here are the likely pots that will determine the groups, via Nick Harris of the Daily Mail Online:
