Bubba Watson Shot a 10-Stroke Hole at the Masters on Sunday

To say that Bubba Watson couldn’t find the magic he discovered at last year’s Masters would’ve been an apt statement, you know, before he carded a 10-shot score on the 12th hole on the tournament’s final day.
The defending Masters champion was one-under par and within a long stone’s throw of the leaders when he approached the 12th hole at Augusta, a par-three where Kevin Na had recorded a 10 earlier in the day after plunking three shots into Rae’s Creek.
It was Watson’s turn to fall into this awful routine—it would seem—with the former champ proceeding to knock three balls into the hazard—his first a tee shot that splashed into the water, followed by a dropped ball shot.
The final depth charge came on Watson’s fifth stroke—a shot from the back bunker that came in too hot and skidded over the green and into the hazard. Watson eventually managed to find the hole on his 10th stroke, sinking a difficult 12-foot putt to mercifully end the nightmarish performance.
It was a frustrating and embarrassing moment for Watson, but the 2012 champion took the situation in stride, accepting that these kind of days happen when you play golf.
“If you play golf long enough you’re going to make a hole in one. I’ve had three and I had one this week,” Watson said to reporters. “Today was just my day to have a bad score. I couldn’t get the club to do what I wanted to, so I made a quick 10.”
Watson also took time to tweet to his followers about his bad day, which he wrapped up with a trip to Dunkin’ Donuts.
