George McNeil, originally from Naples, Florida, is cruising under the radar this weekend along with two other players that could sneak up on the leaders over the weekend’s play. McNeil has had a quiet career in the PGA with no wins. He has career earnings of almost five million dollars. That’s not bad work, if you can get it. George McNeil’s best finish this season is a tie for fifth...

Whilst it is great for the British fans to have their Grand Prix secured for another 17 years, and whilst it is also great to see the grandstands full, I think you would be hard pressed not to be disappointed by Silverstone’s 2010 qualifying session. The first session was pointless as ever, the second session was better, but the final “shootout” was a forgone conclusion. Sorry people...

It’s too early to make predictions for the US Open; I think they at least have to play the Masters Series events in Canada and Cincinnati before we do that. That’s especially true now that the defending champion of the event won’t be playing it due to injury; the player who has dominated the event in the past decade is slumping; and the man dominating the tour at the moment hasn’t...

The FIFA World Cup started in South Africa on June 11, as the teams were ranked according to their probability of winning the tournament. Brazil got the top ranking, after winning the Confederations Cup, while Spain got the second and Portugal the third spot. However, Portugal met its early demise, as they finished second in their group, below Brazil, to be eliminated by the Spanish in the next...

Red Bull Heads into the British GP as the Favourites, with Vettel going in carrying some very good form after winning a Stunning European GP. His teammate should be happy to just leave racing alone after a horrid crash saw him airborne for some time. Webber will be using Vettel’s old chassis but despite that he has shown some solid pace in practice. Red Bull has done well at Silverstone and they...

Kathy Bissell Who would have thought that Michelle Wie would post a first round 82 at Oakmont? Who expected Phil Mickelson to miss the cut at the Scottish Open due to a nine, one more than a snowman, on the 18th hole? And Paul Goydos, now Mr. 59? Oakmont, which is pretty much of a giant-killer for member play, got Michelle Wie right out of the gate. She was eight...

Matt Jones is firing low numbers and joins Steve Stricker and Paul Goydos as favorites to win the John Deere Classic this weekend in Silvis, Illinois, on the TPC Course. This course must be suited for a certain kind of game that I and many many others are unfamiliar with. That would be scoring in the low 60s and high 50s. Jones is currently 13-under, only three shots off this torrid pace set by two...

Drew Thurman (3:24 pm) In this series of profiles, we are taking a look at some of the under the radar Buckeye players who play a vital role in a championship run. Everyone knows the importance of players like Pryor, Saine, Posey, Brewster, Boren, Heyward, Homan, and Rolle. This series is not about those big names players, rather the indispensable guys that get looked over. Check out No. 6, Jermale...

You can tell it’s a quiet week when even a NASCAR race at Daytona is relatively free of noise. I say relatively, as when it did eventually kick off it involved half the field, even though everyone kept all their wheels on the track (and don’t start saying that it’s all down to the magical placebo of a blade spoiler) But, that’s Daytona, and that’s why we love it (OK, so...

Steve Stricker is now in with a minus-16 for two days and the lead to start weekend play at the John Deere Classic. His closest competitor, one 59 shooting son of a gun Paul Goydos, is still on the course, currently at minus-15, but still has to play 10 holes. Paul Goydos or Steve Stricker will obviously win this tournament, as those two have figured out something that no one else seems to be able...
